Kintamani Arabica Coffee for Home Brewing

Kintamani coffee beans for home are sold in small roasted packs rather than the 60 kg export bags used by roasters, so a household can finish the coffee while it is still fresh instead of storing it past its best. Home packs are the smallest format we prepare from the same Kintamani Arabica lots that go to wholesale buyers, roasted to a profile suited to filter and press brewing at home.

This page covers what is in a home pack, how to choose between roast levels and grind options, how to store the coffee once it arrives, and how to place a small order. We are an independent sourcing and roasting desk working with growers in the Kintamani highlands of Bali, and home packs are the same coffee our trade customers buy, simply portioned for a kitchen rather than a cafe.

What makes Kintamani Arabica a good home coffee?

Kintamani Arabica grows on volcanic soils around Mount Batur, generally between roughly 1,000 and 1,500 metres above sea level, and the region is known for a clean, bright cup with citrus character rather than the heavy earthy profile many people expect from Indonesian coffee. That makes it forgiving at home: it tastes like itself across a range of brewers, and it does not need a competition setup to be enjoyable.

The other practical advantage is that it works black. A lot of single origins are built for milk drinks or for a specific machine. Kintamani drinks well as a plain filter cup, which is what most people actually make at home on a weekday morning.

Which pack size should you order?

Buy for how fast you drink it, not for the lowest price per kilo. Roasted coffee is at its best in the weeks after roasting, so a pack you finish in three or four weeks will taste better than a bulk bag you work through over three months, even if the bulk bag looked cheaper.

Household Rough weekly use Sensible order
One daily drinker Around 100 to 150 g Smallest pack, ordered more often
Two daily drinkers Around 200 to 300 g One larger pack per month
Small office or shared kitchen Above 500 g Multi-pack order

Exact pack weights and current availability change with the roast schedule, so ask us what is in stock this week rather than assuming a fixed catalogue. If you want a larger selection of formats and gift options, see our Kintamani Arabica online coffee store.

Whole bean or ground?

Whole bean keeps its aroma far longer than pre-ground coffee, because grinding exposes far more surface area to air. If you own any kind of grinder, order whole bean. If you do not, tell us your brewer and we will grind to match it, since a grind cut for an espresso machine will choke a filter cone and a grind cut for a press will run watery through a dripper.

When you order ground, buy smaller packs more often. Ground coffee loses its edge within days rather than weeks, and no packaging fully prevents that.

How to brew it at home

Start with a ratio of roughly 60 g of coffee per litre of water and adjust from there. Water just off the boil, a clean brewer and a scale will improve your cup more than any equipment upgrade. For a pour-over, aim for an even, unhurried pour and a total brew time in the two to four minute range depending on your dripper.

For a French press, a coarse grind and a four-minute steep is a reliable starting point, then push the plunger slowly and decant immediately so the coffee does not keep extracting in the pot. If a cup tastes thin and sour, grind finer; if it tastes heavy and bitter, grind coarser. That single adjustment fixes most home brewing problems.

Storing your pack

Keep the coffee in its sealed bag, in a cupboard, away from heat and direct light, and squeeze the air out after each use if the bag has a one-way valve. Do not decant into a glass jar on a sunny counter, and do not store beans in the freezer for daily use, since repeated temperature swings pull moisture into the beans.

Roast date matters more than any printed shelf life. Ask for the roast date on your pack and plan to finish it while it is recent rather than pushing it to the end of a long expiry window.

Ordering and delivery

Home orders are handled personally by our team rather than through a self-service checkout. Tell us the pack size, whether you want whole bean or ground, your brewing method, and your delivery address, and we confirm what is available from the current roast, the total cost including delivery, and the payment method before anything is dispatched.

If you are choosing between roast levels for filter brewing, our Kintamani Arabica filter roast supply page explains how the profiles differ, and gift-ready single origin formats are on Bali Kintamani single origin retail packs.

Frequently asked questions

How long will a home pack of Kintamani Arabica stay fresh?

Roasted whole beans are at their best in the first few weeks after roasting and remain pleasant for a while after that, provided the bag stays sealed and away from heat and light. Ground coffee fades much faster, often within days. The practical rule is to buy a pack size you will finish in about a month and to check the roast date rather than relying on a printed expiry alone.

Can I order both whole bean and ground in the same delivery?

Yes. Mixed orders are common in households where one person uses an espresso machine and another uses a press or dripper. Tell us how you want each pack prepared and which brewer it is for, and we grind each pack to match rather than applying one setting to the whole order. Whole bean is still the better choice wherever a grinder is available.

Is this the same coffee you supply to cafes?

It comes from the same Kintamani Arabica lots, sourced from the same growing area and the same processing units. The difference is portioning and roast scheduling rather than quality tier: trade customers take large quantities on a wholesale cycle, while home packs are cut smaller so the coffee is drunk fresh. Roast profiles can differ, because cafe espresso profiles and home filter profiles are not always the same.

Do you deliver home packs internationally?

Small parcels can be sent to many destinations, but courier cost, transit time and the receiving country’s rules on food imports vary considerably, and some destinations are impractical for small quantities. Send us your delivery city before you decide, and we will confirm whether we can ship there, what it would cost and roughly how long it should take.
